The Green Army Go Marching On

Back to football today after a couple of weeks off so a trip to the Mendips was planned to visit Cheddar who were welcoming runaway League leaders Welton Rovers. Not a great day a bit dark and dismal but Welton Rovers had plans to change all for the travelling green army.

So after a respectful 2 minutes silence of remembrance was observed the game got under way and in all honesty Cheddar started well and missed an early chance which was their undoing as from that moment, Welton Rovers seemed to go up a gear and took the game by the scruff of the neck and started to play some great football seemingly brushing Cheddar aside and they got the reward they deserved with a goal and from that point Welton Rovers could have scored at will but they settled for 4, there was a blip when they let Cheddar score in the second half.

I have to say the game today was kind of special with great football all round there was no smash and grab with players diving in, it was skilful passing running and some players had their best game so far this season and shone in a very good team performance, you heard the saying he played a captains game today and I have to say Welton Rovers captain did just that and more he led from the front and he seemed to have a say in everything not only in defence but he had a great game going forward.

The photos can be viewed HERE not the best I have ever done as I was struggling a bit today with the light.

Welton Rovers won 4-1

Goal Scorers: Will Gould, Toby Cole, Jake Slocombe 2
