It was not the best game today in the Toolstation Western League Division one with Welton Rovers welcoming Gillingham Town, the game finished as a draw (0-0) but that doesn't really tell the story as Welton Rovers were pushing all the time but just seemed to be a little bit off the pace today and not attacking like they can. The box seemed to be empty when the balls were coming in so being easily cleared by Gillingham I think this was caused by tired legs after Tuesdays tough game.
That said Welton Rovers had a fair few chances throughout the game but sadly didn't take them, or there was the Gillingham keeper to save it. Their keeper had a good game today and was the difference in the game, Gillingham didn't have a lot to offer going forward although they did give Welton Rovers some worrying moments but to be honest I don't think they ever looked like scoring as the Welton Rovers defence just did enough to protect the keeper, However it has to be said that Gillinghams game plan was to defend and they certainly did that well!
There were some big moments in the game with a ref that really didn't seem to know how to handle it, early in the first half I have to side with the Welton Rovers bench suggesting that the ref would give a free kick every time the Gillingham bench shouted, the biggest moment was a 50/50 red card decision and the ref decided to go with a yellow, these things can go either way however Gillingham bench seem to insist it was a red and let the ref know their feeling on that and personally I think they went a bit far and just needed to calm down a bit.
