Good week in general with Welton Rovers coming out on top against Brislington in The Somerset Premier Cup after penalties last Tuesday. A big well done to the lads for that result and I hope that gives them the confidence to carry that on in the league games. They will now face Larkhall Athletic in the next round.(Date to be confirmed).
I travelled to The Lanhydrock Hotel and Golf Club in Bodmin, Cornwall to photograph the final Blind Veterans UK Reunion of the year. A great day was had by all involved and the food was fantastic. Do you know anyone that has served in the forces and has a visual Impairment and may need support if so please look up Blindveterans.org.uk
Today I paid a visit to West Clewes as Welton Rovers were hosting new comers to the league Lebeq United, so anything could happen. It wasn't a bad game with both teams looking to win but Lebeq took the lead early on, which was against the run of play in my mind, but Welton Rovers pushed hard and got back on level terms and at the break it was all level with 2 each. The second half contained lots of missed chances, being quite honest there were some great balls being delivered into the Lebeq United penalty area but no one could finish. It wasn't until Welton Rovers got a free kick late on when a set piece that had obviously been practised at training paid off with a well deserved goal making them finally go ahead of their opponents. The balls kept coming but again no one could convert them. I think Welton Rovers need to be looking at their finishing. It should have been more for Welton Rovers who finished victors at 3-2. Although they were kind of lucky to finish with a full side after their substitute threw his arm at a Lebeq United player after he had been fowled which was pretty stupid given he had already been awarded the free kick, then of course it got pretty heated as Lebeq United players surrounded the referee and demanded a red card, but the referee bottled that decision just like he bottled the earlier penalty that Welton Rovers should have had. I for one really hate to see players surrounding the referee and asking for cards, just get on with the game and let the referee decide however bad his decision might be.
