So today was the 50th anniversary of the Fry club Cup and the final was played at Fry Pavilion Pitch the finalist were Welton Rovers V Mendip Broadwalk. After quite a good game given that most of the players played yesterday afternoon, the game had a little bit of everything. At half time the score was equal at 1 all, thanks to veteran player Pile! Welton Rovers created several good chances but were unable to finish, Mendip Broadwalk had a penalty saved by Dunk, (Welton's keeper) and then a late penalty for Welton Rovers gave them a chance to win and Welton Rovers Slocombe took that chance and went 2-1 up. In the last few minutes Mendip pushed on to try and get the equaliser but thankfully Welton Rovers held on to win the final 2 goals to 1. I think that was the correct score line. Mendip offered up a great challenge but struggled in the final third, quite a good crowd out today in the damp weather.
Congratulations Welton Rovers!
